Muon: A Name from Particle Physics

The name Muon is derived from the Muon (μ), a subatomic particle known for its penetrating ability. We use it as a metaphor for how our AI financial sandbox helps founders clearly see the core structure of costs and profits.

Why We Named Our AI Financial Sandbox 'Muon'

AI SaaS teams often spend significant time working through complex financial calculations. As we built a tool to help think through costs and pricing, we chose the name Muon for what it represents in particle physics.

What is a Muon?

In particle physics, the muon is an elementary particle similar to the electron, but significantly heavier and unstable. Its average lifetime is just 2.2 microseconds.

The Defining Characteristic: Penetration Power

Despite its brief existence, the muon possesses remarkable penetrating ability.

Created when cosmic rays strike Earth's atmosphere, muons travel at nearly light speed. Due to relativistic effects, they survive long enough to reach the Earth's surface—and pass through substantial material.

This constant stream of muons moves through buildings, rock, and even our bodies. Their capacity to reach what lies beneath is what makes them valuable to scientists.

From Physics to Financial Insight

The muon's characteristics reflect what AI startups need when building their business:

Essential Information, Quickly Captured
The muon's brief journey delivers meaningful data over distance. Similarly, business decisions often need to be made quickly with the best available information.

Seeing Through Complexity
Much as muons penetrate solid material, founders need to see through financial complexity to understand their fundamental business metrics.

Scientists use muons to reveal hidden structures in pyramids and volcanoes. We built Muon to provide similar clarity for your business economics.

The Tool We Built

Muon is our approach to making financial exploration more accessible for AI startups.

It helps you:

Estimate Costs
Project expenses from LLM API calls, infrastructure, and other operational needs.

Compare Pricing Strategies
Evaluate how different pricing approaches affect your profitability.

Maintain Privacy
All calculations happen in your browser. Your data never leaves your computer.

Muon is free, requires no registration, and runs entirely in your browser. You can export your scenarios to share with team members.
